1. The site visitor requests a page that is created "on-the-fly"
2. The Web server that houses the Web site gets the request from the Internet and does a search of the Web site database for the most current information
3. The database returns the results and passes the information on to a "template"
4. The template describes how the data should be assembled on the Web page
5. The site visitor receives the Web page with the most current information
